Potential New Member FAQs

Eligible students may join a fraternity or sorority during any semester after meeting the University's eligibility requirements.

Recruitment and intake opportunities are offered throughout the academic year, with most organizations recruiting or conducting membership intake during the first several weeks of the fall and spring semesters. Some organizations may also offer membership opportunities at other times during the year.

Students interested in joining should complete the Fraternity & Sorority Life Eligibility Form and connect with the organizations they are interested in learning more about.

As of Fall 2026, first semester students will be able to join a fraternity/sorority. Once a student completes a semester at 快播视频, they are considered to be a continuing student. All continuing students must have a cumulative 2.0 GPA to join a fraternity/ sorority. Prior to joining, all students, regardless of credit status, must still fill out the 鈥溈觳ナ悠 Fraternity and Sorority Life Eligibility Form鈥 on OspreyHub and be on the eligibility list, prior to bid distribution.

The decision to join a fraternity or sorority should only be made after careful thought and research. Fraternity or sorority membership lasts a lifetime. While there are countless benefits to membership, the time and financial commitment should also be considered. These commitments vary among chapters, so be sure to ask before deciding to join.

Note: these requirements are minimum standards, so interested students should ask each organization about their specific requirements.

On occasion, students feel it necessary to quit their new fraternity or sorority.  It may be that the time commitment proves to be challenging, the financial obligation is too expensive or the student believes they have made the wrong choice in organizations, etc.  If the student has made a choice to quit, they can do so by speaking with the Chapter Advisor, Chapter President or New Member Educator.

Some organizations hold an 鈥渆xit interview鈥 to find out why the student is leaving, others may have paperwork for the organization that the departing new member must complete.  Either way, the student can leave the organization, but should understand that in most cases any money that has been paid to the group cannot be refunded and that the organization will likely ask for certain items to be returned, like a new member manual of information or the new member pin.
